Ontario is gearing up for the launch of the second phase of its evaluation program designed for internationally-trained family doctors and general practitioners, commencing in early January of the upcoming year.
Practice Ready Ontario (PRO) has streamlined the process for foreign-trained physicians to practice in Ontario, having accepted applications from June 21 to July 19 in the current year. Notification of results was disseminated in the second week of August. Individuals who either missed the initial application period or did not receive a positive outcome can now submit applications for the second intake, provided they meet the specified criteria.
The program incorporates a 12-week clinical field assessment within an assigned Ontario community to assess applicants' readiness for independent practice.
