Total intake of refugees and protected persons under the PR program in February 2022

In February 2022, a total of 5,330 refugees and protected persons were granted permanent residency in Canada.

Ontario accepted the highest number of refugee applications with 2,700 (50.7%), followed by Alberta with 895 (16.8%), and British Columbia with 655 (12.3%). Quebec admitted 650 refugees (12.2%), while Manitoba accepted 220 (4.1%) and Saskatchewan welcomed 125 (2.3%). Nova Scotia and New Brunswick each accepted 35 refugees (0.7%), while Newfoundland and Labrador admitted 15 (0.3%). Prince Edward Island and the Northwest Territories each admitted less than 5 refugees (0.0%), and Nunavut did not admit any refugees in February 2022.

In terms of the type of refugees admitted, 2,855 were protected persons, 1,705 were Government-assisted refugees, 780 were Privately Sponsored Refugees, and 5 were Blended Sponsorship Refugees.

From Turkey alone, Canada accepted 10 Government-assisted refugees and 120 protected persons in February 2022. Throughout the year 2022, Canada admitted a total of 9,665 refugees and protected persons.
